8 Reasons to Book a Photo Session After the Coronavirus Crisis
Maybe you just found out that you are pregnant, or welcomed a new baby. Perhaps you are photographed every year as a family. Or simply, in the spur of the moment, you're thinking you need a record of you and your loved ones at this time in history. Whatever the reason, family portraits are distinctly special, meant to capture the fullness of your life and remembered by generations to come. Why not make sure the special qualities of your family are captured on camera by booking a post-COVID-19 photo session today?
Here are some of the top reasons why you'll benefit from having a professional photographer capture your family as the world begins to heal, by an Upper West Side family photographer.
Reason #1: Celebration of Love
Photography is a celebration of love. If there is one thing that the coronavirus will have shown us, it is to go back to basics. And that the basics of human life is love. Spending so much time with some of our close family members, and so little with others loved ones, has brought a lot of challenges. It has also shown us how much we care deeply about each other, and how much we crave love and connections in our lives. Why not celebrate your life and your love as it is in 2020? It will be the perfect time to finally let loose and even try something new. As a professional photographer, celebrating my clients and show them off in the proverbial spotlight brings me pure joy. A portrait session in our Upper West Side photography studio is the perfect opportunity for you and the people you love to shine.
Reason #2: A Photo Session is a Must for Special Occasions
Especially if you're celebrating a certain milestone - like a precious baby on the way, a perfect tiny newborn, or a baby or child milestone's - a photographer is a must-have for documenting your important date. When the time of your life is here, you want to have professional photographs that will last a lifetime!
Reason #3: To Record History
Whether you're feeling reflective or emerging as someone new and different, this time is extremely unique in our history. Unrepeatable. Photographers understand how to preserve the nuances of what makes time special. Allow yourself to continually look back on this time.
Reason #4: To Get Everyone in the Frame
Who takes your photos? The one behind the camera is typically left out of the photos, and the memory is incomplete. Selfies and timed images are fun, but one can only do so much with a phone or a camera timer. If you want to create authentic and artistic imagery of your family, hiring a professional photographer allows everyone to be in the photo together. Yes, mom, too! A good photographer is also able to capture the love and the connections between family members. This is the most important thing that you will want to remember, especially after the coronavirus crisis. Be in the pictures for yourself, and for your children so that they can remember how much they were loved and how beautiful your family is, despite everything you have been through.

Reason #6: Share Updated Photographs with Family and Friends
Maybe you live far away from family and friends? Maybe you want to show how much your baby has changed during confinement? Or simply want to share the 'post-COVID life' with your loved ones? A photo session can help you accomplish this. Were you "quarantined" with family? Get everyone in the pictures and you'll have wonderful images of you together, to remind you of the time spent with each other. As we get older, we often have a hard time conveying what a time was like when describing something to friends. Photographs can capture a piece of what you experienced to give others a glimpse of how you're doing now.
Reason #7: Professional Preservation
Sure, selfies are awesome and come in handy. And we hope for the best when we hand our partner a camera. However, it can be hard to get photos to turn out the way you want them to. Maybe you feel like you're spending your time trying to take photographs instead of enjoying precious moments with your important people. Put these worries aside as you ride out the remaining time at home. Book a session with a professional photographer and focus on what's important - enjoying each other. When this is over, your photographer will take care of making sure you have fabulous portraits to remember all the best of these times. We can also design archival artwork to make your portraits last for decades to come.
Reason #8: Lasting Memories
Photographs have the potential to be shared and passed through generations. Perhaps you want to create a special album of your growing belly, baby, or your family as the world starts to open up again. Or maybe you'd like to make a personalized family gift to commemorate that you got through it together. It's always better to have high-quality photographs to ensure that your memories don't fade with time. In the years to come, you'll look back on your images and remember this time as if it was only yesterday.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don't have anything to wear? Or I put on a few pounds during the confinement? One of the benefits of working with our Manhattan portrait studio is that moms and babies have access to the client closet. This takes the guesswork out of your wardrobe and makes it simple to style yourself.
What if my baby is no longer a newborn and I'd like newborn imagery? While I recommend that a baby be within the first 4 weeks of life for newborn photography, I love photographing babies of all ages in my Manhattan portrait studio. We will adapt the portrait style to your baby's age.
What if I'm no longer in the ideal window of time for a maternity session? Maternity sessions are ideally completed between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. If you want to document that beautiful, fully developed bump outside of that time frame, please contact me. I'd love to work with you and we will work around your schedule.
What if we feel awkward about a photo session after social distancing for so long? I would adore the opportunity to bring out the best in you and yours. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
