The 10 sweetest things about newborns (Copy)
As a mom and newborn photographer, babies dazzle me on a daily basis! Here are their little features that make me the most emotional!
1) The little noises
Newborns make the cutest little noises! Hearing them can literally put you in the best mood ever!
2) The perfect way they curl on your chest
Newborns curl on your chest in the most perfect way. Like they are meant for it. And it has the power to create the most powerful rush of pure happiness to anyone holding them. As a newborn photographer, it is something that I love to capture because 1) it is something mom and dad do all the time, 2) it depicts the incredible bond shared with baby.
3) The smell
Wonder why mom and dad love to put their nose on baby’s head? Newborns smell delicious! The newborn’s smell is one of the first things that the parents might notice after birth. The most precious perfume ever – the kind that you wish you could keep forever!
4) The softness
Newborns have the softest skin ever. Like velour mixed with bubbles. No surprise we give the compliment ‘you have baby soft skin’.
5) The ever-lasting hiccup
It can really be surprising the first time you hear it! Many newborn babies have hiccups that last… a while! And they have it often! Drunk on milk for sure! ;-)
6) The yawn face
A newborn's life can be tiring, at least according to their delicious yawns. Newborns yawn a lot and it is irresistible. It is something that I try really hard to capture at every newborn photo session in the studio. It makes an unforgettable memory!
7) Perfect toes and fingers
It appears normal to have 10 fingers and toes. But when you see tiny babies, you realize how incredible life and nature really are. How small, yet how perfect, babies' extremities are is really mind-blowing! This tiny feature is a favorite for all newborn photographers! We usually use a macro lens to shoot these incredible details.
8) The peeling skin
Some newborns literally ‘shed’ patches of skin after birth. Flaky skin is often surprising to first-time parents and yet totally normal. A little detail that we often forget about and that I love to immortalize.
9) The hairy body
Many babies are born ‘hairy’. The hair can cover the whole body, the back or the ears. Baby looking like E.T.? No worries, the hair, called lanugo, disappears with time and does not mean that baby will be very hairy as an adult.
10) The long fingernails
Many babies are born with long fingernails, as surprising as it can be. Another cute detail that I love to celebrate with my camera!
Everything that can be seen by your eyes can (most likely) be seen and captured by a camera. A newborn photo session is the perfect way to record all these little things that make our lives extraordinary. A gift to yourself as parents, and for your children as they grow!
